7:00 A.M
The day begins with the sun peeking through the curtains, signaling it’s time to rise. The dogs and I wake up together, eager to kickstart our morning routine. Breakfast is first on the agenda, followed by a refreshing walk that sets the tone for the day. The girls treat it like any other day, but Mylo, with his boundless energy and keen intuition, knows better — it’s the weekend, his time to shine on the surf.
9:00 A.M
Our entire family heads to Portlock Beach, one of Hawaii’s hidden gems, known for its early morning serenity. We like to beat the heat and give the dogs plenty of time to explore before the sun’s rays intensify. Beach safety is always top of mind for our beloved pups, ensuring they stay hydrated and cool.
9:30 A.M
Mylo can barely contain his excitement, eager to start surfing, but I prefer to begin the day with a group activity so his sisters don’t feel left out. Mylo has a quirky obsession with chasing splashes made by tossed rocks, so we indulge him. I throw the rocks, and he dashes after each splash, his sisters chasing him in playful bursts before getting distracted and opting to chase each other instead. Mylo, with his sharp mind and tireless energy, thrives on this kind of mental stimulation — it’s a warm-up for the main event.
10:00 A.M
Finally, it’s time for Mylo’s favorite part of the day — surfing. The moment I pick up the surfboard, he’s all wiggles and tail wags, running in excited circles. Surfing is more than just a hobby for Mylo; it’s his passion, his calling. We paddle out together, and Mylo confidently positions himself on the board. It took him only a few months to get comfortable, first on the board and then riding waves like a pro. I never pushed him to surf; it was always Mylo who insisted, and now, he’s hooked.
10:15 A.M
We find our rhythm in the waves, Mylo soaking up every moment. He’s always eager for more, so while we wait for the next set, I toss a few rocks for him to chase. It keeps him entertained until the next wave rolls in, where he seamlessly transitions back onto the board, ready for our next ride.
11:15 A.M
After an exhilarating hour on the water, we head back to shore. Mylo could stay out there all day if I let him, but I know it’s important to balance fun with safety. We reunite with his sisters and my wife, finding a shady spot to cool off. We share some water and relax, basking in the afterglow of our morning surf session.
12:00 P.M
As much as Mylo would love to stay, it’s time to head home. His sisters are ready for a break, and we want to avoid the midday heat. Mylo reluctantly agrees, and we make our way back, knowing the day is far from over.
12:30 P.M
Back home, the dogs quickly settle in for a well-deserved nap. Mylo, always the dreamer, dozes off with visions of waves dancing in his head, already anticipating our return to the beach.
4:30 P.M
The sun begins its descent, signaling it’s time to prepare for our next adventure. Mylo is beside himself with excitement, trying to help as I pack up the car. For him, the beach is more than just a destination; it’s a second home.
5:00 P.M
We arrive at the beach for our second surfing session of the day. Mylo’s joy is palpable as we head towards the water, ready to relive the magic of the morning.
5:30 P.M
Our routine is seamless — surf, chase rocks between sets, surf again. For Mylo, every wave feels like the first, a new thrill to be savored. Despite the repetition, his enthusiasm never wanes. It’s as if each wave is a gift, waiting to be unwrapped.
6:30 P.M
As the day winds down, we paddle back to shore one last time. Mylo, ever the affectionate one, showers me with kisses, his way of saying thank you for another perfect day on the waves.
7:00 P.M
We pack up and head home, the beach fading into the distance as Mylo settles in for the ride. He’s already dreaming of tomorrow, eager to wake up and do it all over again.
